SuperJeff

The weekend after Halloween weekend, I went home to my hometown so there would be two weeks left before I went back again for Thanksgiving break and I can assure you that my mother was glad that I came home. It was that Friday and my mother was cooking chicken parmesian and some potatoes. They were done and in the oven ready to be taken out and eaten. She also had water and peas on the stove being boiled I think. The reason I do not know what she was doing with them is because I am not a cook. I just know she was cooking them.

I was downstairs on my computer and my mom was in the kitchen working on dinner and my dad was working a high school football game, so it was just me and her. All of a sudden I hear her screaming my name and I just casually say “What” because I just thought it was my cat trying to get at the food, but I was wrong. As I got up the stairs and look at the stove top, I see sparks coming from either the dial or the circles where you put the pots and pans. I can not remember which one the sparks were coming from. My mother told me to get the fire extinguisher, but I did not know where it was, but she found it. We were prepared to use it, but it kept sparking. So then we remembered the circuit breaker and so I rushed downstairs and found the switch that turned the electricity off for the stove and oven. It worked, and the sparks stopped. There is no telling how long it would have taken my mother to turn the switches off with her bad eyes. She would have either taken a really long time which could possibly burn down the house or turn off all the electricity. After we were sure that the danger was over, we looked underneath and saw that the copper and aluminum wires that were taped together had fallen from where they were held up underneath and inside at the top of the cupboard. You know something happened because you could smell the odor from where the tape had melted. The copper and aluminum wires had rubbed together and caused sparks. Then after that whole ordeal was over, we could not even get the chicken out of the oven.

When my sister cameĀ  home, she was asking us about whether dinner would was ready and she was so disappointed that we were not gonna have chicken for dinner. So we had sandwiches and she had fast food, but the important thing is that we are all okay and there was no fire thanks to me of course.
